(even if the weather didn’t!)
Congratulations to all the nippers who competed on the weekend for the Cornish Nipper surf life saving championships. You all really did the club as well as yourselves proud. Congratulations to:
Tia Catt
Matilda Morris
William Roberts
Turaya Evans
Marcus Reed
Leon Reed
Sam Gapp
Bertie Greenslade
Francis Stamersmith
Jack Coombes
Sam Bently
Madeline Palombo
Ben Fortun
Tansy Coombes
Amelie Coombs
With all competitors from the club achieving success in their events, Sam Gapp managed to win three gold medals in the beach flags, beach sprint & the 500m beach run.
Although the weather was a bit dull to start, it didn’t dampen our spirits and after a long wait the sun came out, which made the championships even more enjoyable.
A big thank you to all the parents who came along and supported the club and the competitors, I feel very proud to be part of such a successful team.
Hopefully we can now focus on the next event, which is the British Surf Life Saving championships on the 26th & 27th August at Portreath beach. It would be fantastic if we could increase the number of competitiors for this event in order to achieve further success in a larger age range and the the team events.
The next competitive training session will be held on Tuesday 26th July. Although the main focus of the sessions are on competition, the emphasis is on having fun!
Another big congratulations to all the nippers who took part on the weekend, and we really do feel proud of you all!

Well done to everyone representing Porthtowan – it was a brilliant weekend by the looks of it – onwards and upwards from here!!!! Well done especially to Mark, Stella and Neil

  2. Scott says:

Great weekend and most importantly all the kids all seemed to enjoy it.
They did really well up against clubs with lots of competition experience and squads of over 40 nippers! (we had 15). As Mark says if a few more nippers want to compete then maybe they can do even better next time.
Mark, Stella and Neil did a great job giving up Tuesday evenings in the run up getting them the awards required to compete, organising kit and then running around on the weekend so as a nipper parent my thanks go to them.
I think Porthtowan had the best looking tent and club kit as well!

  3. Louise says:

Great experience for all the kids, they all had smiles on their faces! Mark, Stella and Neil brilliant job. Little presentation on saturday at Nippers for all those who took part.
Great atmosphere amongst the parents and the children, really enjoyed ourselves.

  4. Nick says:

I’d like to echo the comments made by Scott. A very big thank you to Mark, Stella and Neil for all your work in making it a weekend to remember. Thanks for putting the photographs on here so quicly as well – smiles all-round says it all.

  5. Sara Morris says:

A fun weekend was had by all – even the ‘camping’ was fun! Can only echo what has been said already, a HUGE thanks must go to Mark, Stella and Neil, their organisation of the whole weekend made it what it was. Yep, the tent and our ‘uniform’ was definitely the best on the beach…. and no, that’s not beer in my hand at 10am, just strong coffee!! :)
