Porththowan RNLI Lifeguards sign off for the winter

November 1, 2011 Posted by AdamR in Latest News 0 comments

I would like to thank the RNLI Lifeguards who have worked on our beach this summer, especially Chris Lowry, Adam Bunt, Ben Sowter and Sam Chamberlain.

Porthtowan has been a safe place to swim, surf and play with the kids and once again we have made it through a season with no fatalities whilst the beach was being patrolled.  Marcus Lacelles, another RNLI lifeguard, has recently been awared a bravery award for a rescue he carried out whilst the nippers had just finished their session in pounding surf.

The club hut will soon be shut down for the season…but we will leave the hot water on for those hard core  surfers determined to get through ‘ice cream head’ disease!
