Will we won’t we?

SURFBOAT ROWING

Today is the dreaded WATERGATE day – the third competition in the UKSRL series.  Watergate is THE ‘no no notorious’ location during the series and has always thrown up a huge challenge for the surfboat rowers – and it looks like this year is no exception.  The legendary 2009 season saw complete carnage, with collisions, backshutes, broken ribs, smashed noses and capsizes being the order of the day.  With a 6ft wave expected, the question is ‘Will we?  Won’t we?’.  Will any of the crews brave the conditions?  Will the surf Gods give us a break and flatten the swell to a rowable bit of chop?  Will there be a plan B – or DD?  Watch this space to find out…

Maybe the wonderful Watergate 2011 will serve as long awaited therapy for the scars and psychological trauma of 2009!
